I own a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel that has experienced repeated high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failures despite completion of the NHTSA HPFP safety recall. After the recall was performed, my vehicle developed the exact failure described in the recall. Metal contamination was found in the fuel system, requiring replacement of the HPFP and major fuel system components. Approximately 13,000 miles later, during routine fuel filter maintenance, I suspected the failure had returned. I asked…

2021 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE

Filed Jul 14, 2026

While driving, the vehicle experienced a sudden, unexpected engine stall and complete loss of propulsion due to a premature failure of the in-tank electric fuel pump. This failure occurred at only 37,000 miles, which is well below the expected lifespan of a major fuel system component. A sudden loss of engine power while operating at speed poses an immediate safety hazard, increasing the risk of a rear-end collision or leaving the vehicle stranded in active traffic. The fuel pump had to be…

There are not warning signs when it happens.

While parked my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK (VIN:[XXX]), BOTH the driver and front passenger Active Head Restraints (AHR) spontaneously and violently deployed forward within a couple weeks from each other. There was absolutely NO vehicle collision, crash impact, or structural trauma to trigger a safety sensor deployment. Upon physical inspection of the deployed internal mechanisms, both factory-installed units carry legacy Mopar part number 68058539AD and sequential assembly serial numbers…
